Very hazy KL city centre.

Basically, we were there at wrong time and wrong day.
Reached there around 4.30pm, too early, no crowd, some stalls not open yet.
No rain in the morning, very hot, very hazy, no wind, no mist.

Forth stop: Went back to Klang for dinner
Final stop: Back home to watch Diamond Club on CH317 :)

Dragon Boat Festival

Today is the Chinese will celebrate DuanWu festival (端午节), which happen every year in 5th day of 5th month in Chinese calendar.
Is also call Dumpling Festival, because we must have Dumpling to eat. Well, at least that’s what happen in my family.

Introducing my family dumpling!!!!!!!!!!

Dumpling 019

Dumpling 023

Dumpling 024

Our house dumplings are made from sticky rice, 3 layer fat pork, mushroom, medium dried prawns (中虾米) and chestnut (栗子).
All the ingredients were half cooked before it was wrapped in the leaves, which will then cook in boiling water for 3.5hrs.

The finished product has salty & seasoned taste, juices from pork fat lubricate the biting and prevent the sticky rice from sticks on the leave – 100% satisfying.

Malaysian big eater

On a recent trip with MAS flight, encounter this particular article.

Surabaya 001-take five

Its so true, sometimes I really wonder how we find so much room in our stomachs.
Or actually in the other way round, maybe we digest faster, therefore we need to eat sooner.

High five Elaine Tan!

BBQ buffet at Daidomon Restaurant

Got recommendation from colleague about this restaurant Daidomon offering BBQ buffet at RM68 per person for their Washoku and Yakiniku Buffet. Located in 3rd floor of Great Eastern Mall, Jalan Ampang, KL.
Tasted it on 1st March 2009 with KT and June.

Its really nice. Following is my review for the food we ate. slurpsss…
Pictures are courtesy from KT.

Green tea is free flow.
They also serves salads and variety of soups and rice (gohan).
For dessert, they have ice cream and mixed fruits.

May order a la carte or set meal if you don’t fancy buffet.

Overall, i rated it as 4 stars out of 5.
The missing star is for not installing ventilation fan.
Though the food is nice, i don’t like my hair and clothes smells like BBQ-ed

Go have a try.

Luxury bling bling

On the very first day of 2008, i was requested to work.
Yes, you heard me right. Have to work on New Year.

Therefore, i decided to make myself a little treat.
I made spaghetti as lunch box. haha....
It feels good.

Look how nice.
Dory fish fillet dipped fried with egg, top with Prego tomato sauce, and dressed with Parsley.
Reheat in microwave for 2 minutes, then voila, my hot and saucy spaghetti.
It's the luxurious lunch box i ever had (well, apart from the bak kut teh lunch i had few years ago, haha).

Shabu Shabu

hohohoho....

Finally me and my frend (SH) tasted the long awaited shabu-shabu in Cineleisure Damansara.
We had it on new year's eve (yeah, i know its been almost a month ago, i know i'm a lazy pig, keke)

It was the turning conveyor (sushi king alike) thingy that attracted us to try it.

There are quite a number of dishes in the menu

We ordered Chicken set for one person, with miso soup. Served with the special sauce, a bit sour that kinda sauce.
Quite a big portion of chicken meat for one person though.

And then we add one sumiyaki - slices of striploin beef.
This was the highlight of our meal!! Ichi-Ban!

Warning: You could get really busy engage with the barbeque thingy once its served, until the extend that you might abandon the shabu-shabu which supposed to be the main course.

I have SH to keep on remind me to eat shabu-shabu, otherwise, she will have to finish it all by her own. haha.

Overall the food is good, price is reasonable, but the turning serving is a bit over priced (what to do, have to match it's environment mah).

One thing that have to remark here is that the service is quite poor. Service responses are slow at ordering and bill. Waiters are not so polite.

Worth a try though, for the sake of sumiyaki (BBQ beef slices).

Onigiri

hahahaa...Finally i've made onigiri a.k.a japanese rice ball.

Ingredients:
1) Japanese short grain
2) salt
3) water
4) vinegar
5) seaweed

Its really not that easy to make the rice in shape, escpecially when it is triangle.
Therefore, i made a few GIANT rounded rice ball first.
Then finally i got 2 in triangle. haha....

1ststageofonigiri.jpg

And then, the next mission is to wrap the rice using seaweed, and still wants to look triangular.
this is what i get...........
failed.jpg

Its horrible...

(SH said is weird to serve japanese food with chinese style plate). Yeah, its a bit too cina...

Then my mum came and help me made one. Voila....(bottom right in the container)

completedonigiri.jpg

Thanks to my mum, finally there is one that looks like Onigiri from Isetan KLCC.

Phew....big project. It tooks me 2 hours to made all this!

Will try again in the near future.

Its not because i like to cook, but its because i have left over of 800g of japanese short grain! haha..

More updates coming up.
