First we check-out from hotel, and have breakfast at a very old restaurant next door. Right after this breakfast, we walk to get the food we missed in Day 02. The pan fried carrot cake covered in Axian788 阿贤人情味! The chef auntie non-stop cooking for her customers. Look at the amount of plates been used in just 2 hours of business. After the satisfying secondary breakfast, let’s proceed to Penang Road for some refreshing cendol. In the evening, many will stop by on their way home from work for Teow Chew Famous Cendol. After that we go 2 more mission in our menu that hasn’t been accomplished yet. First, is the yam cake. As for lunch, is Curry Mee with everything – by the word everything, they literally put everything in it. That’s a lot of foods there for the past 3 days, its time to do some sightseeing. Very old clock tower, the time is still correct though. QE II at port And, the artistic namely “A Celebration of Our Blue Sky” at the promenade Well, that’s the end of my Penang trip. Looking forward to go again to finish one business….the Nasi Briyani Beratur! 05/28/2009 Penang Food Trip in April 2009 (Day02)Hi, I’m back with sequel of 2nd day route for my Penang food trip. In the next day morning, local Penang colleague brought us to eat Hokkien Mee as breakfast. Check out the big prawns! After exhilarating breakfast, we proceed our journey to Kek Lok Si (极乐寺 – Temple of Supreme Bliss).
However, the beggars sitting at corridor does become eyesore of the place On the way up, don’t forget to stop by to feed the tortoise. The administrators were seeking for donations by selling pieces of roof at RM30. We head back to Georgetown by bus after the simple lunch (not really satisfying). Then, in the early evening around 5pm, we went to New World Park located just next door to Tune Hotel. Must try in the hawker centre in New World Park is the Ice Kacang King served with fruits namely banana, mango, papaya and a scope of peanut butter vanilla ice cream. Will be back with Day 03 menu. Stay tuned. 05/26/2009 Penang Food Trip in April 2009 (Day01)This is a backdated blog about my Food Trip in Penang about a month ago in April. I went with Air Asia flight because Ann got vouchers due to be redeemed. I’m not sure if this is river in klang valley, its beautiful. Well, the aircraft and stewardess still the same, you know… We arrived just the minute we finished the flight meal. Its a new hotel opened for couple of week ago when I stay there. The room is great though its a bit small. Security controlled, non-smoking building with safety deposit box. After settling down and refreshed ourselves, we took a walk down to Upper Penang Road end at E&O Hotel. After a night of beers, turn to Mamak’s at corner for a bowl of hot Sup Kambing or Roti Canai, Teh Tarik, you name it. To be continued with my day 02 route with more food. 03/15/2009 My recent visit to Phnom Penh, CambodiaThis is a replacement blog about my visit to Phnom Penh in Feb 3rd-7th, 2009 It was a business trip. It was my first visit to Cambodia. Woke up in the morning at 6.30am, just nice to see sunrise over Mekong River from my room window. Busy market, heavy traffic, hard working locals…. And in the evening, the villager will “walk” their cows… Road side food stalls at the surrounding of casino pulling customers, hard earn money, total contrary scenario Local restaurants and corn stalls at the city, relaxing slow life And when back to hotel, you can see tourists sun bathing at pool side… I will be back to Cambodia, cause I could not visit Siem Reap for Angkorwat due to short of time. Standby for me. 03/02/2008 Last day in BangkokIn conjunction with election that Sunday (24th Feb), sales of alcohols were banned across the whole state from friday onwards. However TAPB provide free flow of beers to us through out the whole training. There is no signs of draught for us. Cheers! I had Burger King for lunch. Even the burger king fries taste better, darned. P/S: I ate in this Burger King everytime I'm in that airport, for some reason. This is the view of Suvarnabhumi airport in Bangkok. The new one. Is pronounce as su-va-na-boom. There is a nice decorated garden, but views were blocked by pillars and window shades, can't get nice captures. As everyone might know that AirAsia cheap air tickets system has MAS desperately coming up with discounted ticket as well. Its pretty obvious to see how they cut cost to accommodate those discounts. First, the quality of air-stewardess has deteriorated (maybe this one has nothing to do with new pricing system, ahem....) Secondly, they use really old air-plane Thirdly, the meals are simpler The packing looks nice. But the sandwiches are frozen cold when it's served. I got a bun in my meal when i'm flying to bangkok, the bun was so hard that I feel like want to throw at air stewardess face. They also serve mandarin oranges in conjunction of Chinese New Year. However, they still serve nice cup of tea and artificially sweet orange juice 03/01/2008 Thai FoodHi all, there was delay to upload meals I had in Bangkok, Thailand. I gotta to say, Tom Yam soup in Thai is superb. Literally can get good delicious tom yam anywhere, anytime. By the way, the local called chili soup instead of tom yam soup. One of the evening after training, a group of us had our dinner in Yum Saap Restaurant. In Thai, Yum Saap means Yummy. This shop is located at the 7th floor of MBK, a big shopping complex in city centre. They have the menu in dual language - foreigners friendly. They also sometimes indicates the level of spicy by chili symbol. the highest is 5 chilis. These are the main dishes we ordered. I ordered one shrimp fried rice to go with it. If you noticed, our drinks are filled with a lot a lot of ice. Maybe only 20% is liquid. However, the drinks feels like normal drink after a few bites of chilli padi. Thank god to that ice. This is my favourite, Tom Yam shrimps + squids + bamboo. very nice. missed it so much. I accidentally bit on a chilli cutlet, tears burst out immediately. It took me few minutes to calm down again. Hope to visit Bangkok again for the nice food. 02/20/2008 You think you've seen it allThailand never fail to surprise me.
They have the busiet traffic, they have double number of toll on Freeway (in malaysia we called it highway)
This picture was taken in the middle part of the highway. So please double up the length of tolls for the total number. And then they never fail to serve the "bestest" food, I know there is no such word, but no word can describe the "best of best" here. i was so lucky to lay my hand on this heavenly made Blueberry tart. Yes, thats right it is a blueberry tart. 02/17/2008 PKE training in BangkokI'm here in Bangkok for a week training for PQ standard PKE training. These are the view in my room. Quite ok. They even give complimentary drinks at bar and fruits in room.
Alrighty, going to have some rest before dinner time. Will keep on updates from Bangkok. 07/29/2005 Relaxing weekendA.C 2005, 23rd the July
A bunch of ex-high-schoolians, had a trip to Fraser's Hill for a relaxing weekend.
Final junction that will bring us to the destination, where we'll find treasures.
Fraser's Hill was named after one of the more colourful characters of the colonial era, James Louis Fraser. (Nothing to do with F&N's Fraser and Neave though). Fraser was an adventurer and fortune hunter who periodically used this area as a trading post to buy tin from Chinese miners back in 1890s.
The arrival of the British in the early 20th century saw the area being developed into a hill retreat. Fraser's Hill's popularity as a tourist resort has not diminished over the years, attracting not only locals but foreign tourists as well.
Everything happens for a reason. With the fresh air, chilly weather, breathtaking scenery, and located just 40km from Rawang, it's no wonder Fraser's Hill has become a laid back hotspot for citizens. The air is so fresh that it crisp as we breathe in.
(Featuring cheery Li Suan with clock tower)
What will you treasure from a marvellous place like this?
Serenity....Inspiration...or just simply happiness?
Get a taste of life, taste the sweetness of blooming florwers.
Well, we chose to let our hair down, watched series of television show, talked about good old days, laughed a few jokes. And, we had one superb american breakfast. Awww...that's so privileged.

Nothing last forever. After one short stay on the hill, we drag ourselves back on the winding road, back to the civilisation, back to the harsh.
Whatever lays in the future, live life to the fullness, don't look back, thou shalt be joyful.

[photo] 12) Venue: Eagle Square, Kuah Town. The main attraction of the square is the magnificient statue of the reddish brown eagle majestically poised for flight. Langkawi derived its name from the eagle or "Helang" (lang) in malay. "Kawi" denotes reddish brown. Hence, Langkawi means reddish brown eagle. [photo] 13) Venue: Eagle Square, Kuah Town. The square is located just next to Kuah's jetty. In the evening, we would see the fishermen ships coming home to labour, sunset.....romantic 14) Venue: Mahsuri Mausoleum. Legendary fair Mahsuri whose was unjustly accused of adultery and executed in year 1819. In the dying breathe of the innocent maiden, she laid a curse on the island that it would remain barren for 7 generations. Fact or fiction? Well, seven generations have since passed and today, Langkawi is a flourishing tourist destination. [photo] 15) Venue: Black sand beach. Some said there are skulls, broken bones and ship wrecks on Black Sand Beach which remains from the great battle between Garuda and Jentayu. Meanwhile, some claims that these remains belong to the traders who sank together with their ships, because of the whirlpools that existed in the Northern part of Langkawi. Creepy jeepy.... 04/28/2005 WinWin, a verb, to defeat everyone else by being the best or by finishing first in a competition. You win, you can't win; win hands down, win through; no-win situation, and the best of all kind --> win-win situation. Since the toddling age, we've been learning to win over parents' attention, to earn caring. Then in kindergarten, we fought for puppy's love. The ego growing in primary, gotta be No.1 in whatever things, from academic to eating speed during recess. And yes, all the way through in our life, whatever we do, is all come to winning at the end. Abo then, what makes u think that the hokkien song 爱拼才会赢 made such a great debut in donkey's years? During my current visit to Langkawi Island, so called 99 islands under the sun, duty-free island. I would really taste the different of cultures between northern and Klang valley. God blessed the taxi's driver in Alor setar! They don't even bother to ask the visitors / passer by if they would like to call for a cab. They were like lay on faith and wait to be call. Is that a good way to strategize their business? I doubt. Then when we landed in Langkawi, so much of a tourism info posted in the internet, hack the 4-stars resort, screw the expensive entrance fees at the attraction spots. The A-rated tourism spot i would recommend for those who wants to visit Langkawi is Galeria Perdana, an exhibition hall for Dr Mahathir's souvenirs. The items are really eye opening of seeing the art reaching the limit. Everything are so fine. Items are mostly souvenirs Dr Mahathir received during his diplomatic visit and partly from his fans / supporters. Awesome place, 3 blocks of double-storey fine decorated buildings, cheap entrance fee. RM5 for adult, RM3 for golden veteran above 55yrs old, RM1 for camera. Again, we can see the "win" culture here. Other country's admin head giving out precious souvenirs as a mark to win over our respect to his, and the other way round.
